History News Magazine

History News is the official magazine of AASLH. It exists to foster publication, scholarly research, and an open forum for discussion of best practices, applicable theories, and professional experiences pertinent to the field of state and local history. A History News subscription is a benefit of AASLH membership. Each quarterly issue includes featured articles, regular columns, and a Technical Leaflet.

After three years, all issues are sent to JSTOR. AASLH members can get free access to History News on JSTOR.

If you are looking for an old issue that is not online, please contact us at info@aaslh.org or 615-320-3203, and we will do our best to find what you need.

Article manuscripts dealing with all aspects of public history are welcome, including current trends, timely issues, and best practices for professional development and the overall improvement of the history field. The editorial committee is especially interested in articles that give a fresh perspective to traditional theories, in-depth case studies that reveal applicable and relevant concepts, and subject matter that has the ability to resonate throughout all levels of the field. Prior to submitting an article, consult the History News Review Form and Style Guide to determine what reviewers look for when evaluating articles for the magazine. Send questions to History News editor Bob Beatty.
Submissions of articles, Technical Leaflets, and book reviews are accepted electronically through Submittable.
